1. Select an image or picture in the slides.
2. Click the Picture Tools tab on the top ribbon.
3. Next, select the Format tab.
4. Under the adjust segment, click on the Compress icon.

6. Select “delete cropped area”

Some of the most common reasons for PowerPoint file size to increase are using multiple images, using large images, or embedding elements such as fonts, video or audio directly in the presentation file. An easy way to reduce the file size is to use special compression programs designed for PowerPoint files.

To compress video and audio media in a PowerPoint file:

1. Save a copy of the presentation that contains the video and / or audio you want to compress.
2. Open the copy of the presentation.
3. Click the File tab in the Ribbon.
4. Select Info.
5. In the Media Size and Performance area, select Compress Media.
6. Select a video quality.

Open a PowerPoint presentation. Click on any of the images on the slide. A Picture Format tab will appear on the menu bar; click it. On the Picture Format tab, click Compress Pictures in the Adjust group. A Compress Picture dialog box will appear.

Using the Zamzar PPT compression tool, individual (and sizeable) elements – such as pictures and videos – are compressed bringing the overall file size down. Once compressed, the PPT (including the images and video within it) does not suffer from any noticeable loss in quality despite the file size being shrunk.

Windows creates a new zip file and gives it an identical name as the PowerPoint file. Send the compressed file to your intended recipient, who can then decompress the file just by clicking it. If your presentation contains audio or video content, you can reduce those media file sizes to make your overall file size smaller.

If the file size of your presentation is too large, try the following tips to make it more manageable. Select a picture in your document. The Picture Format tab appears. On the Picture Format tab, in the Adjust group, select Compress Pictures.

1. Open your presentation. Go to File in the PowerPoint menu.
2. Click Save as and then Browse.
3. In the window that opens, click on Tools (right beside Save)
4. Select Compress Pictures and choose the resolution you need.
5. Click OK and then Save.

Also, although PowerPoint will allow you specify compression settings for CMYK images, it won’t actually compress them. Don’t forget to check pictures in Slide Master View (click the View tab in the Ribbon and then click Slide Master) as you may want to compress those images as well.

Choose Compress Pictures in the top left corner: the pop-up box shows you the resolution options you have for the image. For most purposes the web resolution of 150ppi is fine, but if it’s a particularly large screen you’re using, or you’re going to print it, maybe choose the print 220ppi option.
