MS has told us this is a known bug with Windows 7 and Office 2016/2019 using MFA, but no solution yet. They’ve had me running enhanced logging, turning ‘EnableADAL’ on and off, etc, etc. If we get a real workaround that doesn’t involve logging in and out of other apps or disabling MFA, I’ll update.
