How do you integrate Slackbot?

Go to api.slack.com/apps, click Create an App, enter a name for your app, and select the correct Slack account where you want to use the new Slack bot. Slack will then show some options to add features to your app. You can add bot users, interactive messages, and more—but each of those requires coding.

Slackbot is a chat robot that’s prepared to answer any question you have about using Slack. Not only can you send Slackbot a question via a direct message and receive an answer, you can also use Slackbot to set reminders for important dates and deadlines.

Here is how you set it up:

1. Click the down arrow next to your Slack team name.
2. Select “Customize Slack” from the drop down menu.
3. Navigate to the “Slackbot” tab if it is not already selected.
4. Create the prompt on the left side and the Slackbot response on the right side.
5. Try out your new Slackbot command in a new message.

4 Answers. It looks like you can’t disable Slackbot for all channels, according to Slack support. But you can at least disable the channel suggestions by selecting the option of “No, Turn Them Off” under these suggestions, or go to Preferences > Advanced > Other Options and untick the option to send these occasionally.

To get started, click your organization’s name at the top-left, and then click Customize Slack. This will open the Slack admin in your default browser. Click the Slackbot tab to get started creating autoresponders. Click the Add new response button.

Schedule a message

1. Click the compose button or open the conversation where you’d like to send your message.
2. Type your message in the message field.
3. Click the arrow icon to the right of the paper plane icon.
4. Choose a date and time from the list or select Custom time to set your own.

Members of the channel cannot see what you send to Slackbot. Slackbot can only answer questions about Slack. Sign into your Slack team. When prompted, sign in to your Slack team with your username and password. Once logged in, you’ll enter your team’s default channel.

Create a Slack app if you don’t already have one, or select an existing app you’ve created. Click the OAuth & Permissions tab in the left sidebar. Below Bot Token Scopes, select one or more scopes. Then click Add an OAuth Scope. Click the App Home tab in the left sidebar to view the bot user and the configuration you’ve added.

Click “Direct Messages” on the left menu bar. Now you’ll open a new direct message conversation with Slackbot. If you’re using a mobile version of Slack, just type /dm @Slackbot and press Send to open a message to Slackbot.
