How do you split a section in Crystal Reports?

You should see a hash mark appear along the edge of the ruler with arrows pointing up and down. If you click at that point and drag the marker up and down just a bit you will see a line appear across the section. Place that line where you want to split the section and let go of the mouse.

Right-click the name of the section you want to use, and click “Insert Section Below”. This creates (in our example) a second group header. Now we can move the graphic down into it and resize the first one.

But the answer is still the same, if you want to format data over two columns down and accross the page then use the columns above. The fixed distance for each entry is determined by the height of the section and will not vary.

The sub report prints in a single column, with approximately 4 inches of blank space to the right of it. The data I am feeding to the sub report contains 3 fields: name, age, and status. What am I doing wrong?

1. Right-click the Group Header section, and select “Group Expert”
2. Click Options..
3. Select Options tab.
4. Check “Keep Group Together” check box.
5. Check “Repeat Group Header On Each Page” check box (If you want to repeat Group Header on every page)

When you underlay a section, all sections will print over the top of it, until Crystal Reports comes to its companion section, which will not underlay it. For example, if you underlay a page header, all sections will print on top until Crystal Reports gets to the matching page footer.

There is a capability in every section that allows you to suppress it if you don’t need it. It can be done by right clicking the bar of the section that you want to suppress and pressing the suppress choice from the menu that will appear.

This option only affects a Page Footer area with multiple sections. When you do this, SAP Crystal Reports will only reserve space on each page for the tallest of your Page Footer sections. Relative Positions. This option allows you to lock the relative position of a report object next to a grid object within a section.
