It entirely depends on what information the camera embedded in the video file. It may or may not have actually stored the date. If the information is in the meta data, then any advanced video player or editing tool should be able to see the meta data and tell you the date associated.

If you want to see the location for a specific photo, find the photo in iPhoto, select it, and press comman-I (or mouse-over the lower right corner and click on the ‘i’ icon that appears). A panel will apear that shows the photo name, date it was take, and location.

Currently, iOS doesn’t have a built-in feature for viewing metadata, so you’ll need to download a third-party app.

Open the timeline settings box and select “add video date and time.” This will add the time and date information as a title. Specify the time in which the date is displayed.
