PHP is shipped with OS X El Capitan. To setup PHP open Terminal which is found in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal. OR press ⌘ + Space and type Terminal.

The new Symfony Framework powered eZ Platform is already stable with PHP 7 for development use. This is the case not only for eZ products, but many developers working with PHP will need to keep many versions of the runtime in action for years to come.

If you have a friend with a Mac you could try connecting it to yours via a FireWire cable and put your system in Target Mode. That way you can salvage your important files just to be on the safe side here onto an external HD. Was this answer helpful?

Mac OS X runs atop UNIX. So most UNIX software installs easily on Mac OS X. Furthermore, Apache and PHP come packaged with Mac OS X. To create a local web server, all you need to do is configure Apache and install MySQL. I am aware of the web server software available for Mac OS X, notably MAMP.

When the install is finished, your Mac restarts itself. If you were reinstalling El Capitan on the hard disk that it was originally installed on, or upgrading from Mavericks, you’re done now. Your Mac will reboot, and in a few moments you can begin using your new, freshly installed (and ideally trouble-free) copy of OS X El Capitan.
