Programs “Anaconda Prompt” and “Anaconda Powershell” expose the command conda for you automatically. Find them in your startup menu.

Use the terminal or an Anaconda Prompt for the following steps:

1. Create the environment from the environment.yml file: conda env create -f environment. yml.
2. Activate the new environment: conda activate myenv.
3. Verify that the new environment was installed correctly: conda env list.

The default install location for Anaconda is: (Linux): /home//Anaconda3. (Windows): C:/Users//Anaconda3. (Mac): /Users//Anaconda3.

Once you have set an environment variable, you have to reactivate your environment: conda activate test-env . To check if the environment variable has been set, run echo my_var or conda env config vars list .

To test your installation, in your Terminal window or Anaconda Prompt, run the command conda list . For a successful installation, a list of installed packages appears.

If you want to avoid adding the Anaconda path to the Environment variables, you can type Conda commands without getting the “conda is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file” error by using Command Prompt to navigate to the folder installation first.

When you install anaconda on windows now, it doesn’t automatically add Python or Conda to your path. If you don’t know where your conda and/or python is, you type the following commands into your anaconda prompt Next, you can add Python and Conda to your path by using the setx command in your command prompt.
