1. Open your object, in this case a table.

3. Under the “SQL” menu at the top of the IDE, choose “Refactor” – “Move to Schema”

The . scmp file is a XML file essentially. It is stored in the Schema Comparison folder of the project system by default. When you double click the . scmp file in the Visual Studio, the Select Source/ Target Schema page appears, on which shows the comparison settings and options that you have set.

The refactoring log file is one of the configuration files which are passed to deployment extensions when you deploy. When you use refactoring to rename a database or to move a database object to another schema, the refactoring log file records that action.

SQL Data Compare is the industry-standard tool for comparing and deploying SQL Server database contents. You can work with live databases, backups, or SQL scripts in source control. Damaged or missing data can be restored to a single row, without the need for a full database recovery.

Compare Two Schemas in pgAdmin

1. Click Schema Diff option, under Tools menu.
2. You will see a form where you need to select Source and Target.
3. Select server versions, source and target servers, and database/schema depending on your requirement.
4. Click Compare to compare two databases/schemas.

The update will fail because our change involves changing a column from NOT NULL to NULL and as a result causes data loss.
