How do I install Silverlight?

Go to https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight, or search Google for “Get Microsoft Silverlight”.

1. You’ll be taken to the Get Microsoft Silverlight page. Click the Install for Windows or Install for Macintosh link, depending on your computer.
2. Follow the installation instructions presented below the download links.

Visit the Silverlight Project Test Page. Watch the page. If it loads a Silverlight application, then Silverlight is working properly on your computer. If you see a blue “Install Microsoft Silverlight” button, then the program is not working and needs to be reinstalled.

Silverlight does not come as part of Windows 10 itself, however you may find your Window 10 does have it installed. This is to do with Internet browsers. If you have a browser which supports the plugin (such as Internet Explorer 11), then the plugin may be included in your regular Windows updates.

Uninstall SilverLight with build-in uninstall option. Usually SilverLight can be uninstalled through the Control Panel, here is the steps: Click Start button, click Control Panel. Select Add/Remove program in the Control Panel window. In the program list, locate and highlight SilverLight, click the “Remove” option.

Microsoft continues to support Silverlight, and Silverlight out-of-browser apps can continue to use it. Silverlight will also continue to be supported in Internet Explorer 11, so sites continue to have Silverlight options in Windows 10.

Mac

1. Double click on Silverlight.dmg.
2. Right click or hold Control and click on Silverlight.pkg.
3. Click Open on popup menu.
4. Click Open on the prompt that says ‘Silverlight. pkg is not from the Mac App Store, are you sure you want to open it?’
5. Follow the prompts on the screen to install Silverlight onto the computer.

Troubleshooting Microsoft Silverlight. After removal, you will be prompted to reinstall Silverlight. Check “Accept” and press “Next.”. Silverlight will be reinstalled. When the process completes, a confirmation will appear and should confirm that Silverlight has been repaired. Press “Close” and exit your internet browsers.

Copy and then paste the following text into Notepad. In the Save as box, click All Files. Right-click the CleanSilverlight.cmd file on your desktop and click Run as administrator When the uninstall completes, right-click the CleanSilverlight.cmd file on your desktop and click Run as administrator a second time

Internet Explorer 1 Open IE. 2 Click the cog top right. 3 Choose “Manage Add ons” 4 There’s a combo box towards the left pretty much central. 5 Choose “All add ons” 6 Scroll down to Microsoft and find Silverlight. 7 Click the Silverlight entry to select it. 8 Use the button towards bottom right to Enable.

Other companies seem to have decided that means they’re not going to support Silverlight. For example, it just won’t work on recent macs using Chrome. On Windows 10 the default browser is Edge, this is incompatible with Silverlight and MS will not be adding Silverlight support.
